Is Fuerteventura safe for solo female travelers?

Fuerteventura is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. The local community is welcoming and crime rates are usually low. However, like anywhere else, normal travel precautions should be taken. Be aware of your surroundings, especially at night or when visiting less crowded areas. Unwanted attention or pickpocketing can occur, so it's wise to remain vigilant.

Family travel

I lived in my boyfriends family’s house close to the ocean. It’s the nicest beach I’ve ever seen and swam in. There’s a lot of turist here, but that’s okay. I’ve been windsurfing a lot, and I can recommend to do some wind/water sports here! There’s a lot of good places, good teachers and a lot of wind. Haven’t felt unsafe a single time here

We went for the first time and we loved it. you‘ll definitely need a car bc there are so many beautiful places to see. I was on a boat tour with FlounderSailing, we watched Dolphins and went snorkeling after that. The Beaches were amazing and every one of them was so different!

Last weekend, I finally made it to Fuerteventura—and wow, it was worth the wait! After living in Gran Canaria for over a year, it was about time. The island is stunning. I travelled solo and rented a car for a 3-day road trip, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The beaches are unlike anything I’ve seen before. If you ever get the chance to visit Cofete, don’t think twice—just go. Corralejo is lovely too, but the raw, untamed beauty of Playa de Cofete is absolutely jaw-dropping.

Solo travel

Spent Christmas in Fuerteventura. I signed up to an activity retreat with the amazing FuerteXperience. One week full of yoga, hiking, e-biking and surfing, it was so much fun. Went solo but joined a group of other fabulous ladies, we got on brilliantly so had plenty of company as well as time to myself. Corralejo, where I stayed, was easy to navigate, plenty of shops, restaurants, bars etc. But able to find quieter spots. Lots of lovely beaches. Average prices, can easily keep it budget friendly or splurge if that's your thing. Everyone very friendly. Seems well connected with transport, but we had private through the retreat organisers. Stayed in Surfing Colors hotel, it was comfortable, but quite busy with general holidaymakers. Would prefer to arrange my own next time, and I do plan to head back for longer, with the occasional organised day with FuerteXperience. Would highly recommend if you want to get away for some winter sun!

I felt very safe in Fuerteventura. I was there on my own without any friends. Then, I made friends quite quickly. I rented a hotel with a superb pool. The food was amazing. The beaches were wonderful. I also rented a car.
