I love visiting Groningen - I absolutely recommend renting a bike to get the actual local authentic experience. The city museum is just fantastic, food options are diverse and exciting, lots of nice bars and cofee places, especially in the city centre and close to Rijksuniversity. The park is also a must see, and coffeeshops are safe also for a solo travellers that wants to try!

Personally I've never had an unsafe situation in groningen. But on Thursday to Saturday nights there's alot of parties, and dutch people aren't afraid to approach. Id recommend not persee going out very late at night. Groningen city is relatively crowded so theres always people around and near. If you go the the country side there's alot less people, I live in the country side, Personally ive never had issues walking alone late at night, in the dark. (I do recommend not walking alone persee, but it's possible)

Hi! Im Anouk, living in Groningen with my 2 sons, I work in a restaurant and I give yoga classes. When possible I'm outside, gardening, wandering or camping with the kids. I love hanging out with friends, do some cooking together or playing boardgames 🥰. Before becoming a mom I traveled a lot. Starting when I was 17, living and traveling through a few African country's. When turning 19 I left for South America. After that I started working and settling in Groningen. Since the boys I haven't been traveling like before, but I didn't stop visiting country's, and I learned that I don't have to go far to enjoy beautiful nature, meet kind people and experience adventure. So I would love to welcome you in the Netherlands 😄. I have a spare room where I can host 1 or 2 people. ❤️

Groningen
Hi! After visiting friends in Montpellier I am now solo-travelling with Interrail through Europe. I'm currently applying for jobs after graduating so I'm trying to make that more fun by combining it with seeing new places and meeting new people! I have a lot of travel experience, but have so far only stayed in hostels and not done anything like couchsurfing, but this app seemed like a great way to start :)
