Exploring Gozo on your own is fairly straightforward. The island is small enough to navigate easily, yet large enough to offer a variety of sights and experiences. Buses, taxis, and car hire services are widely available, and walking can be a pleasant choice, especially in the cooler months. However, signage can occasionally be confusing, and public transport often runs on a relaxed schedule.

The food scene in Gozo is quite impressive. The island retains its authentic Mediterranean culinary traditions with a broad variety of seafood options available due to its location. There is a nice focus on local, rustic dishes often using locally-grown ingredients. Although vegetarian and vegan options are expanding, they are not as prevalent. If you love experimenting and tasting different types of traditional dishes though, you will have a rich gastronomic experience.

Gozo, compared to other European destinations, is moderately priced. Accommodation, food, and public transportation are reasonably affordable. However, if you opt for frequent ferry rides or guided tours, or if you're into buying souvenirs, your expenses may add up quickly. It is a decent place for travels on a budget but not the cheapest.

Family travel experience

I felt very safe during the whole trip. The island of Gozo is full of interesting places such as beautiful landscapes, amazing beaches, cliffs and caves. The building ruins older than Stonehenge were very interesting. Locals were very friendly.
