I found Vilnius really safe, people really mind their own business and men are respectful. I even went on my own for food and a drink to a local pub, there was a group of men seated at the same table and they let me be. I loved the history of Vilnius, visiting the museums, going to the Opera, the prison, a fascinating place!
Posted: March 27, 2025Vilnius is extremely safe, quiet city. Transportation is very comfortable and it is easy to get from one point to another. In 2 days, it is possible to complete the city tour. First day: the Church of St. Peter and Paul, Monument of Three Crosses, Gediminas Castle Tower and the second day Old Town and the churches, streets, squares in Old Town can be explored. Pilies Street, the Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit are must-see locations.
Posted: September 2, 2024Experienced: July, 2024I traveled to Vilnius with a group of friends and managed to stay there for 6 days. From my experience, I can tell that we overall felt safe during our trip, and were very excited about tourist sightseeings. Vilnius is a vibrant city with interesting spots, restaurants, history, people, and culture.
Posted: August 24, 2024Experienced: August, 2023I felt incredibly safe in Vilnius. I don’t say this lightly m but I never felt this safe walking around at night (I was with another person though). Not once where we cat called and not once where we even given a weird look. I can’t even say the same for my home town! Vilnius is so beautiful and everything is so cheap there (you can comfortably pay with euro 😍). The city centre has a mall where they have a bubble tea store where they serve rose slushies (best thing I ever had the honor to taste).
Posted: August 11, 2024Vilnius is a very cozy little town, with various hygge cafes and restaurants (one cute cat cafe among them!). Ancient streets and sights, if you like to stroll along beautiful narrow streets while stopping for a coffee here and there - that’s your kind of place!

Less safe city parts near airport or train/bus station. City center is safe. Safe in public transport. People speak English so could help. Taxi mostly drives not locals. Perfectly works food delivery with Bolt ir Wolt apps. Bolt app also suitable for taxi trips.

Vilnius is so safety that you can go for a walk on the late evenings. Public transportation system is pretty easy so you can figure it out quickly and explore the city safely. Also the dominant force of work, society are women.
Posted: December 5, 2025Vilnius is save and calm. Sometimes at night can be unpleasant situations, but usually it's only about few districts. I have been living here for 2 years and I have never faced with physically harm from strangers. But sometimes drunk people especially on a station can say rude and dirty words

Generally Vilnius is pretty safe, you can meet drunk people but usually you dont get annoyed by strangers, only some homeless people can disturb, but it doesnt happen often, maybe once a month. But i dont recomend being alone in naujininkai or bus station area

Vilnius is a very calm and safe city even at night, the city is very quiet and there is no need to worry, there is always police on the streets at night, especially in the city center and we have a lot of police stations So there is no need to worry about safety, but it is still worth carrying pepper spray to protect yourself from drunk people.
Posted: July 16, 2025The safety map shows areas in Vilnius where women have reported feeling unsafe.

I travel lightly, following intuition and beauty — architecture, quiet streets, a peaceful café. And nature in between the inhabited places. I’m fascinated by everyday local habits; they tell the real story of a place. Safety matters to me, as does the freedom to move simply and comfortably. Here, I’m open to brief, easygoing connections and practical exchanges. And that’s exactly what I offer in return.
