Overall I feel safe. I haven’t seen or heard from any of my acquaintances about witnessing/experiencing an assault/robbing/kidnapping/rape. There are such occurrences once in a while, but I only hear about them from the news. There are less safe areas of town (such as the central station district) or places like clubs (haven’t been to one myself, but heard that sexual harassment, possible drugging, pickpocketing might happen), where it doesn’t feel that safe to walk through at night. Despite that, my experience in Vilnius is great: walking at night through the old town, in my home district hasn’t caused any troubles. Generally, at summer, late spring or early autumn in the old town many clubs, pubs are open and the youth is active, but it feels welcoming, rather than dangerous. In my home district (Pilaitė), I go running 3-4 times a week in the dark (00:00-01:00) - haven’t had any issues and feel comfortable. Of course, caution is always advised - some districts are less safe at night, but at day time I feel safe all around town.
Posted: July 3, 2025It is mostly safe unless you go to the more rural areas. It is still safe but you can always meet some drunk men, they are mostly too drunk to do something but you can still feel uneasy. But its just in the more distant areas outside the centere.
Posted: July 2, 2025I live in the centre so it is probably more safe than other parts of the city. But either way I have encountered only a few uncomfortable (not truly dangerous) situations in the 4 years that I’ve lived here.

Vilnius is very safe city, but there are some alchohol and drug addicts that you might wanna ignore. Also neighborhoods like Naujininkai or Šeškinė are not super safe, but all other areas are truly save and not to worry about.
Posted: June 19, 2025Generally Its safe, even at night just try staying away and not engage in conversation with weird looking and drunk man. Usually Šnipiškės can be a little unsafe, but mostly at night. :))))))))))))))))

It is definitely a safe city, this I am comfortable in stating. However, it is full of different people, thus you still have to stay careful and mindful while enjoying Vilnius's night life, or just being out and about at nighttime.

I found Vilnius really safe, people really mind their own business and men are respectful. I even went on my own for food and a drink to a local pub, there was a group of men seated at the same table and they let me be. I loved the history of Vilnius, visiting the museums, going to the Opera, the prison, a fascinating place!
Posted: March 27, 2025Vilnius is extremely safe, quiet city. Transportation is very comfortable and it is easy to get from one point to another. In 2 days, it is possible to complete the city tour. First day: the Church of St. Peter and Paul, Monument of Three Crosses, Gediminas Castle Tower and the second day Old Town and the churches, streets, squares in Old Town can be explored. Pilies Street, the Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit are must-see locations.
