Dubrovnik is definitely awesome. I loved kayaking around lokrum Island, great experience. The game of thrones tour was fab too, amazing place. Wednesdays were the busiest days as cruise ships came in. Also had day trips to Mostar and Kotar, well worth a visit to both.
I enjoyed Dubrovnik. Stayed in an Airbnb outside the walled town, but within easy walking distance along the cliff with sea in view the entire walk. Rented a car for a few days to see wine country, did tastings etc. It was late May. Islands off coast beautiful. Enjoyed Market day.
Dubrovnik is an awesome walking town. We stayed inside the walls but we swam in the Adriatic, did a pirate boat ride, ate and drank our way around the fort, did the walk around the whole fort, and the ariel tram ride. We didn't even have to leave the area.
I visited Dubrovnik and found it a very safe city to navigate as a solo female traveler! I went in April and I stayed at the Old Town hostel and found it super safe and friendly.
Croatia is beautiful. I stayed in Dubrovnik, and I went to Old Town every night for dinner because there was so many restaurants to choose from. Lapad also has a nice variety of restaurants and beautiful (pebble) beaches nearby as well.
Go up Mount Srd. I hiked up and took the cable car down. The view on the hike is great, plus it’s an overall easy hike, so I’d recommend it. I went up just in time for sunset and the view was phenomenal. I did a day tour to Mostar and Kravice Falls — also highly recommended. Swimming by the waterfall was heavenly. It will look different from Dubrovnik plus prices are cheaper! Also went to Kotor Bay in Montenegro for a day, and it’s really beautiful as well. Warning: If you go to Lokrum (little island off the coast), it’s definitely nice to hike around but that little pool of water has sea anemone that will sting you! For cheaper food: Kamenice, Barba, and try looking at pizzerias outside the Old City. You can look up the menu of almost every restaurant on Google Maps so browse around to compare prices. The Red History Museum is great too. One tip is to get beer and wine for grocery stores instead of going to bars. They can be super cheap at stores but the prices are much higher at bars and restaurants especially because Dubrovnik is extremely touristy. Apart from restaurants and beaches being crowded, I never felt annoyed by the presence of the crowds, and I really hate crowds!
Things to do in Dubrovnik - Walk the city wall - Take a cable car to the top of mount Srđ or you can hike it if you like - Walk along the stradun (the main street) and take the little alleyways to find other cute shops - Get a drink at Buza Bar- a cafe that sits on the outside of the wall along the cliffs of the ocean Restaurant recommendations: - Proto - known for the best seafood. - Nautika one of the more expensive restaurants in the city with beautiful views - Restaurant Dubrovnik on roof top in old town - There are also good pizza places in the old city for lunch and plenty of other hidden gems for drinks or ice cream
One of my favorite things was simply sitting in a cafe and reading a book while listening to the hubbub of the town. I also hired a photographer on Airbnb experiences and did a photo shoot for $75. I got over 50 beautiful photos from it! Definitely hit up Buza Bar for a drink, it’s a bar built into the side of a cliff and has a fab view. Definitely go to Lokrum island, it’s a 15 minute ferry ride away and is beautiful. I hopped in the Adriatic Sea there. I also took a bus from Dubrovnik to Kotor, Montenegro and stayed a night over there.
