Old town is the turist part , it’s really beautiful but expensive to eat / drink / live in . So my tips is to live and eat/ drink in lapad or gruž. It’s a part of Dubrovnik city, 10 minutes away with local traffic , and it’s really cheap in comparison to old town . But it’s as good ! Go swimming and sunbathing , but I warn you it’s not a sand beach so bring thicker mat with you if you want to :)

I felt v safe. There’s not a huge amount to do and most people are quietly and stylishly dining together. Beautiful restaurants and medieval streets. But Ive just arrived in split which feels much more partyish and lively

There is also another place with a nice view, accessible by cable car (which you have to pay extra for), near the city centre. One day is more than enough to explore the old town.
Posted: September 17, 2023I was in Dubrovnik last September and I was delighted. I felt very safe there, they have excellent public communication, and the infrastructure is amazing for such a small city. I participated in several tours and stayed right across from the water. There is plenty to do there, and this tiny city is beautiful and clean.
Posted: July 30, 2023I only spent a day there, but I really enjoyed walking around the city. I highly recommend the Panorama Restaurant. It's located at the top of the cable car and is the best place to watch the sunset. Buza Bar is a great place for a drink.
Posted: June 26, 2023I spent three nights in Dubrovnik, it's really beautiful. It definitely turned out to be more expensive than other parts of Croatia I've visited, especially when it comes to food and drinks. I bought some stuff in the supermarket for breakfast and snacks during the day, so I could eat only for dinner and save money for attractions and activities. My favorite thing that I did was taking part in a guided kayak tour. Three hours of kayaking in the bay, you go to the island of Lokrum and stop by a cave to swim and snorkel. Separately, I also went for a walk to the top of Mount Srd, which has amazing views at the top (and it's a free attraction). I highly recommend both these things, as well as the city walls.

I have been out alone as a women , in bars or walking in the night and I have not felt uncomfortable at any time . There is many turists here so it’s always people out and people here are really nice because they are used to turists aswell
Posted: May 19, 2025Dubrovnik is a very touristic place but the locals are hospitable and friendly. People are trustworthy. I have never had anything to worry about from the local people here. But I would like to say that in the summer there are a lot of people from different countries here.
