Is Opatija safe for solo female travelers?

Opatija is largely considered to be very safe for solo female travelers. The crime rate is low and public transport is reliable. The locals are friendly and often willing to help if you need directions or travel advice. However, as with any destination, it is always advised to take necessary precautions such as avoiding unlit and deserted areas at night and being aware of your surroundings at all times.

Opatija is a small city, which is a great first time experience for someone who wants a little taste of the Croatian coast (which is the reason why we took some friends who were visiting the country). It's easy to feel safe, and it's not overly crowded. There are many beautiful places to take pictures and feel like a sea princess. It's also a good day trip from Zagreb if you don't have a lot of time, but want to have a taste of the sea. Mind you, though, just like most Croatian beaches, you'll find stone rather than sand - I recommend using aqua shoes or diving shoes to walk, as they make everything more comfortable.
