Safety:Safe

Santa Teresa, is generally safe for solo female travelers. The local community is friendly and welcoming. The crime rate is relatively low, with most instances being petty theft, which is common in many tourist areas. It's advisable to exercise caution as you would in any location - don't flaunt expensive belongings and keep your accommodations secured. Always stay aware of your surroundings, especially during night time, and try to grab a taxi if you're coming back late. Many of the locals are expatriates, thus making it easier to find English-speaking assistance if needed.

Transport:Moderate

Santa Teresa, is a small beach town with most amenities being centrally located. Walking is usually convenient for short distances. For longer distances, there are many rentable options such as bicycles, ATVs, and scooters, making it quite manageable to navigate around the area. However, it's essential to note that roads may be unpaved and can get muddy during heavy rains, possibly complicating transportation. Public transportation does exist but its reliability can sometimes be limited.

Things to do:Interesting

Santa Teresa, boasts pristine beaches, clear waters making it perfect for activities such as surfing, snorkeling, and swimming. Additionally, the dense jungles offer numerous opportunities for hiking, wildlife observation, and yoga. Its unique blend of local and international cultures offers interesting culinary options and vibrant local arts scene. However, it's a bit isolated and infrastructure could be improved.

Food:Above average

Santa Teresa offers a wonderful range of dining options. From local Costa Rican dishes to high-quality international cuisine, there is indeed something for everyone. Whether it's fresh seafood, vegetarian cuisine, or Asian fusion flavors, you'd be surprised at the diversity this small town offers. The presence of fresh organic ingredients and a number of health-conscious options is a plus. Only downside is that some may find dining slightly pricier than other places in Costa Rica.

Budget:Affordable

Santa Teresa can be quite budget-friendly, especially if planned ahead and outside of peak tourist season. Affordable accommodation options are manageable to find, and local cuisine is both delicious and cost-effective. However, participating in popular activities like surfing lessons, yoga classes or wildlife tours might increase your overall expenditure.

Solo travel experience

Favorite place of cr! The waves are the best, and goood surfing schools. Point break at playa hermosa as example! The best teachers and waves. Also go for sunset daily if you can, it never gets boring!
