Nosara is a beautiful place with incredibly kind people. Positives: felt extremely safe, city is walkable, beaches are clean, people are kind. Negatives: food/drink is so expensive and not very good. Often restaurants were actually more expensive than what I pay here in the Upper East Side in Manhattan.

This was my second time to Nosara with a group of friends (men and women, including LGBTQ+). Overall, I’ve always felt quite safe when on my own during the day. At night I would recommend being with at least one other person, especially on the jungle trails or beach. Sunsets are huge here, and a very communal experience. Make sure to get to the beach for them! Lots of opportunities to learn to surf here, including some women’s only lessons and camps. You can find some cheaper food options, but don’t expect Costa Rica to be cheap. Definitely check out Naked Foods (cash only), Al Chile, Olga’s, Pura Pizza, and Coyol (for sunset dinner).

Such a great place to visit!! Lots of airbnb’s and other tourists so felt very safe and welcoming. To balance there was also a lot of locals that made it feel super authentic and exotic! The beach was the best i’d ever been to. I never once felt unsafe and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect!!
