Navigating Sichuan can be moderately challenging. In bigger cities such as Chengdu, English is not widely spoken but manageable with some basic phrases. Many signs and menus are only written in Chinese. However, locals are generally friendly and helpful. In remote areas, English is rarely spoken which might present some communication difficulties. Relying on translation apps can turn out to be very helpful. Plenty of transportation options are available ranging from buses, taxis to trains. Sichuan cuisine, or more famously known as Szechuan cuisine, is a style of Chinese cuisine originating from Sichuan Province. The flavor profile is bold, pungent and spicy, thanks to the abundance of garlic, chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns used. The food offers incredible variety, depth, and complexity of flavors ranging from sour to pungent, hot, sweet, bitter, aromatic and salty. Some examples are Kung Pao chicken, Ma Po tofu and Twice-cooked pork. As a foodie destination, there is a slew of street food options, fancy eateries, and local stalls that serve authentic and delicious Sichuan food suiting various tastes and dietary preferences.

Budget:Moderate

Traveling in Sichuan can be considered moderately budget-friendly. The cost varies depending on your travel style. The accommodation and local food are generally affordable, but the entrance fees for some of the famous attractions like Jiuzhaigou Valley can be quite high. Also, traveling between cities may require long distance bus rides or flights which can also add to the cost. Planning ahead and using public transportation can help you stay on budget.
