In September 2015, I went to Chengdu for a maternal health care workshop. The food was incredible! I loved the spicy hotpot and dumplings, they were some of the best I’ve ever had. I felt safe the entire time, and the locals were really friendly. Overall, it was a great experience with amazing food and a welcoming vibe.

Went to Chengdu and saw the Sanxindui archeological site, the Panda Breeding Research Laboratory, as well as biked around the city. Chengdu is a really cool city with lots of food options open late at night. I do speak Mandarin so that made it easier to find places to stay and eat. Getting around is really easy, with public transportation and/or rideshares/taxis. Apple Maps works well for public transport instructions. I highly recommend 转转磨for a fancier but delicious and authentic Sichuan food...

Chengdu is a very safe city! In fact, I’d say many of China’s major cities are quite secure, thanks to the extensive network of cameras everywhere. You can walk around at night, even in less crowded areas, and feel completely at ease. It’s one of the things I love most about living here—you can enjoy the city at any time of day or night without worrying about your safety.
Posted: September 19, 2024Overall, Chengdu is a big city with a high level of security. But I think it’s not exactly safe to walk alone in dark streets at midnight. Also, be aware of the drunken persons near pubs at midnight.

You will feel the easiness and warmth from Chengdu people when you arrive in Chengdu and don’t worry about safety. I usually take the subway home in the night, you can see many people on the last shift. My home is the last stop of the subway. And I usually walk home alone after 10pm.

Hi there, I’m Cyndi, a warm‑hearted local born and raised in Chengdu, China. I’m a passionate travel lover with a big dream of wandering around the whole world. So far, I’ve explored 20 countries, and road‑trips are absolutely my favorite way to travel—there’s nothing better than hitting the open road and discovering hidden gems along the way. I’m an outgoing, easy‑going and approachable girl who loves making new friends from all over the globe. I’m skilled at cooking authentic local Sichuan dishes, and I’d be happy to treat you to homemade delicious food during your stay. My English is still improving, but I’m learning hard every day to communicate better with international friends. If you choose to stay with me, you’ll get your own private, cozy room in my lovely home. I’d love to share stories of my travels, show you the real local life of Chengdu, and create wonderful memories with fellow travel‑loving ladies here. Looking forward to welcoming you and embarking on beautiful stories together ✨
