Is Saint John safe for solo female travelers?

Saint John is generally considered a safe destination for solo female travelers. As in any city, it's important to be aware of your surroundings and take basic safety precautions. However, crime rates are relatively low, and Canadians are known for being friendly and helpful. The city is relatively easy to navigate, and there is a good local transportation system. Furthermore, public spaces like parks, restaurants, and shops are well-lit and often busy. Always remember though that no city is without its risks, so always stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.

How safe is Saint John for solo female travelers?

Solo travel

Saint John is a vibrant city with lots to do. Many hiking trails, and old architecture. I felt safe in most parts of the city but if I were to do a lot of walking around the city at night, I would feel safer in a group.

How safe is Saint John for women?

It is quite safe! There are some neighbourhoods to avoid though, but uptown and the suburbs are safe after dark. I would not go to the areas around uptown, or the north side, after dark, but these places are all safe during the day.

About me

Hello! I’m currently traveling South America for the next 6ish months before returning back to work as a nurse. I’m learning Spanish and spend a lot of time hiking. I completed the Pacific Crest Trail this summer. When I’m home I would love to show people around New Brunswick and all the beautiful outdoorsy things it has to offer :).
