I’m in a quiet older neighborhood that is pretty safe. The closer to Portland you get the public transportation can feel unsafe at times due to unhoused or unstable people around. I have had my car stolen in Portland at a transit center.

Vancouver is a good city, depending on where you go. As with most places, there are areas where you have to keep an eye out. Near the highways, homeless camps can be an area of concern, as well as near the I-5 corridor. However, in areas like Downtown Vancouver I feel relatively safe as long as I continue keeping an eye out. It is perfectly fine for a solo traveler as long as they're careful at very late hours of the night

It is pretty safe for the most part. There are places that are not recommended to go during the night. However, if it is a stroll around the parks and neighborhoods during the daytime and early evenings, then I feel content about my surroundings.
