Tallahassee is a fairly safe city. As the capital city of Florida, it has historically been a retirement city that gets busy around legislative session. Recently, with an influx of college students choosing to stay and study at the three in-state public institutions here, college town has grown and drawn rapid expansion initiatives. Posted: May 22, 2026I would say tallahassee overall is okay. FSU is very safe. I was at the event that happened on campus last year which was very traumatic but overall there is nothing like that ever. the city is safe at night just make sure you have some sort of protection I guess

There are definitely more safe places than Tallahassee, but it’s not terrible. If you use precaution it’s fine, just be aware. I have yet to have a negative experience, but I do hear about crime, specifically theft, frequently on the news and from peers

hi!! i’m an environmental engineering student at florida state and I am currently studying spanish as well. I love the environment, nature, animals, and everything that has to do with making the world a more sustainable place. a little about me is I have 5 cats, fish, 3, dogs, and a pet praying mantis. some of my hobbies include pottery, crocheting, painting, drawing, and cooking.
