I grew up in and around Syracuse… it’s known for its directness, people will help eachother, but there is also a narcotic and crime issue (not dissimilar to cities across America). With this in mind; during the day if you’re approached for money you can easily dismiss anyone by directness “no not today, but take it easy” or “NOPE” is good enough to maintain your safety. Posted: April 10, 2026Stay away from the south side. That’s known to be the dangerous side of town. Downtown around the university neighbour hood is generally safer. I would not ever walk anywhere by myself after dark here
