Is Summerville safe for solo female travelers?

Summerville is a safe suburb of Charleston that has its own beautiful charm! There is a lovely (although small) historic downtown that is very safe during the day and night. Outside of Summerville, there are a few areas to be cautious in at night, including the Rivers Ave. area of North Charleston, and some areas of downtown Charleston. However, I always feel safe in the area and I love living in Summerville!

I live in a rural area with not many people, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt! I live near downtown Summerville, which is very gentrified but generally feels very safe. I used to walk around alone as a child and teenager with no problems, and people are generally courteous and helpful. However, I cannot speak for the rougher sides of town.
