Is Sioux Falls safe for solo female travelers?

Sioux Falls is considered to be relatively safe for solo female travelers. There are low rates of violent crime, and residents are generally friendly and helpful. It's rare to encounter serious safety issues, especially if you follow typical travel precautions such as taking care in the evening and avoiding lesser-known areas. As always, remain aware of your surroundings, and don't hesitate to ask for help if needed.

Physical safety depends on where you are in the city, but it’s generally a pretty safe place. Basic precautions (such as keeping your car locked and retaining awareness while walking) should be enough to protect in most cases. However, sexual harassment is common and occurs everywhere, in my experience. It seems to be worse at night.

It is very safe. How ever, it is a little racist. In the 12 years I’ve lived here I have been hate crimes twice. I was walking downtown when someone yelled the n-word at me as I was crossing the street. Another time I was yelled slurped at and some teenage boys jumped on my car and wrote the n-word on my car.

Sioux falls is a pretty safe place, crime rate is increasing, but nothing crazy. Just make sure to stay safe, especially downtown, dont be alone, and if you are, bring pepper spray, especially around bars
