Sarasota is a retirement county. Most people are over 60 yrs old. Very small. No worries here. Very safe. Practically born and raised here. If you’re looking for night life Tampa, Orlando, Miami area would be your best bet.

Sarasota is pretty safe. I don’t feel unsafe during the day anywhere. The main thing I think about is angry people who might want to pick a fight over something dumb like parking. I’d recommend being pretty non confrontational and you’ll be fine. Most places around town are busy and you won’t really ever feel unsafe. It’s not very walkable but places like downtown and UTC are totally fine to walk around in and feel safe. Lots of places are pretty empty at night and I’d recommend not going out...

Pretty low crime rate in most toirosty areas. If you keep to yourself youll be fine. I wouldnt walk in the alleys between buildings at night though without someone else as i have seen some men just sit in the alley.
