San Diego is a solid choice if you want a city that feels relaxed, outdoorsy, and safe. Most neighborhoods are calm and walkable, especially during the day and some areas need a bit more awareness, especially late at night

San Diego is relatively safe. I’ve never been in danger and I rarely hear of friends/family getting into danger. I walk my dog alone a lot, ride my bike in central SD, go to the beach alone and take public transportation.

Depending on where you are in San Diego County, it is very safe. Most places in the San Diego are safe, but in downtown I recommend walking with people or driving a car/ubering. During the day is fine though! Just at night be careful especially in areas that aren’t crowded.
