Exercise normal precautions. Stay where the people are. Do not get too inebriated by alcohol or drugs if you are alone at night. I'd say avoid being alone at night in areas where there are few people around, but that's my rule for any new place that you're not familiar with.

It honestly depends on where in Sacramento you’ll be. West/central Sacramento is pretty dangerous overall, and you’ll typically see weird stuff on the light rails (buses are def better than light rails if you can manage that). I dont believe you’ll be likely to run into any problems, likely some catcalling, unfortunately sometimes men get handsy. I believe for the most part as long as you are aware of you’re surroundings and careful you are pretty unlikely to run into any serious issues. Sacramento is fun and lively! especially downtown there lots of food bars and clubs and much amazing food! I recommend hanging out in midtown.
