I would just be careful there are crazy people. Be aware of surroundings and I tend to not go out at night. Sometimes I hear gun shots or crazy people walking in the middle of the road at night. Stay safe
Posted: March 23, 2026Pretty safe place to live and visit! Never really had an issue, even downtown in the wee hours of the morning. The buddy-system hasn’t failed me yet, and our cops are so bored they spend most of their time trying to nab people for speeding. I would avoid the rougher areas on the outskirts of downtown if you’re alone, but mostly just because an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Posted: February 9, 2026Overall pretty safe if you walk in the well populated areas. Still prefer to walk with other people at night instead of alone. Crime can be a problem, but not excessive. It’s not bad in the college area of the city.

About me
I’ve made it a tradition that each year I travel somewhere I’ve never been. So far I have been to North Carolina, Hawaii, and West Virginia. I would love to start traveling out of the US. my top 5 destinations are, Thailand, Ireland, Alaska, Italy, and Switzerland. Solo traveling is something I really enjoy, but with the way the world is, I’ve been a bit hesitant to travel solo outside the US. So I am very thankful to have discovered this app!
