Is Norfolk safe for solo female travelers?

Norfolk is relatively safe for solo female travelers when precautions are observed. It's a vibrant city with many tourists, but like any city, some areas can be less safe especially at night. Always staying aware of your surroundings, not flashing high-value items, and avoiding isolated areas at night can help ensure a safer experience.

Norfolk is what you would expect, it’s not super safe here and as a women it’s even worse. Living here is probably the most dangerous place I’ve lived at but as long as you stay in a group and mind your own business you’ll be fine.

Norfolk has made progress in reducing violent crime, with a notable drop in homicides. However, property crime is still higher than average, so it’s smart to stay alert. Many neighborhoods are vibrant and welcoming—just take the usual precautions, especially at night or in unfamiliar areas.
