Louisville is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. As in any urban area, staying safe essentially comes down to avoiding potentially risky situations and environments. It's recommended to follow the general safety guidelines, such as not walking alone at night, not disclosing your accommodation details to strangers, and always keeping your belongings secure. I think as with many cities you just want to exercise caution after dark in some parts of town. Some parts are safer than others. Some I feel safe walking alone at night. Some I absolutely do not. In general though it's a pretty safe town. As a tourist you should not be targeted. But message me and I can list neighborhoods that are safer after dark for a lady alone.

Avoid the west end and downtown at all costs! Every area seems dangerous now, and you should never leave anything in your cars! Be careful with date rape drugs at bars and avoid going out alone even in the daytime.
