I would characterize Laredo as mostly safe. As a border town, there is an over saturation of police presence, from the federal, state and local levels. You’re more likely to get harmed by the police in south Texas, as opposed to anyone else. I would caution women to be careful around the police in south Texas, especially when traveling alone. Otherwise, a safe place to visit.
