We experienced the Big Ears festival in March 2023 and had an absolute blast. Most of the festival is in old city which is a hip area of the city with quirky restaurants, the iconic TN theatre and a river running through.

I have always felt safe especially in my neighborhood but it is America 🤷🏻♀️. I am cautious in general. I do not own a gun. I rely on loud barking dogs (if needed) as a deterrent! I grew up in Memphis and did not feel safe living there.
Posted: February 24, 2025Knoxville is relatively safe, but like any city, it has its issues. Like I would wander around after dark or take public transportation after dark unless necessary. Where I live though is more suburban, so I always feel safe at home.
Posted: July 13, 2024I personally dealt with many different types of people here but most of the time I ran into good people but I felt unsafe in many areas. The meth and drug usage around this town is insane along with insane amount of homeless people that shouldn’t be homeless. I felt more unsafe with non homeless people and have been sexually harassed more times than I can count in my month stay

I’m in my 50s, I still work as a family doctor training residence at the academic Medical Center here. I love to travel and meet new people. I love the idea of women feeling safe traveling and getting to meet other women with similar interest. My husband and I enjoy camping most weekends from the spring through the fall. We also love to travel internationally and often take our adult children along, so we can spend time together.
