Safety at night:Safe
Joshua Tree is generally considered safe, especially within the park boundary where rangers conduct regular patrols. However, like any remote natural area, it’s important to exercise some caution. Wildlife, including snakes and coyotes, may be active during the night. Also, the rugged desert terrain can pose hazards, especially if you are hiking alone and are not well-prepared. When staying in the campgrounds or areas near the park, be aware that while crime is not rampant, it can occur occasionally just like any other community. Lastly, always let someone know where you are going, carry plenty of water, and make sure your phone is charged.
