I have never had any unsafe occurrences, I live in a large complex and tend to leave my door unlocked frequently. Like all cities there are unsafe areas, but for the most part it is safe. Hickory has a low crime rate.

Hickory is a small town in the North Carolina Piedmont. Its friendly and safe. There are many outdoor walking and cycling places and people use them day and night There is limited public transport but everything is accessible by paths in the downtown.
