Is Grand Rapids safe for solo female travelers?

Grand Rapids, Michigan is generally safe for solo female travelers. However, like any city, it's important to always stay vigilant, especially if walking alone at night. The city's downtown area is quite safe and the locals are typically friendly and willing to assist tourists. Crime is relatively low compared to other U.S. cities, but some neighborhoods can be more problematic than others. As always, exercise common sense such as using trusted transportation, protecting personal belongings, staying aware of your surroundings, and keeping your accommodations secure.

How safe is Grand Rapids for female travelers?

How safe is Grand Rapids for women?

Grand Rapids is relatively safe in the city. I wouldn’t feel safe walking around everywhere at night. I feel safe during the day though. There are quite a lot of homeless people and sketchy crowds but I have never been aggressively cat called. I do carry pepper spray at night with my friends but during the day it’s quite safe. Transportation is definitely a bit sketchy. HOWEVER the areas around Grand Rapids are extremely safe. The holland to Hudsonville area is so so so safe. You could walk around any of those towns at 2 AM and be fine.
