I’ve lived in federal way my whole life and it’s a fairly safe place to be, but for solo female travelers I’d be careful going out alone past dark and wouldn’t visit the public transport area due to there being some drunk people there.

It's an okay city, I would say walk around with a friend if you have not been there before. Overall, Federal Way is not too bad of a city to visit. Don't go to the Safeway there after dark tho it's generally not safe.
