How safe is Denver?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Denver is considered relatively safe for a large city, especially in its downtown areas and popular districts – even at night. The local police and the city's public safety infrastructure work diligently to keep it secure. However, much like any city, it's important for solo female travelers to be mindful of their surroundings and stick to well-lit areas. It's also recommended to use transportation services like taxis, Uber, or Lyft, especially in unfamiliar areas or very late at night.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Denver's public transportation system is generally quite reliable and safe. The city has an extensive network of buses and light rail, operated by the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD). Most buses and trains are well-surveilled, clean, and timely. Nevertheless, like any major city, safety can vary depending on the time of day and the specific area. It's always wise to stay aware of your surroundings, especially late at night. However, the overall experience using Denver's public transportation is positive and safe for solo female travelers.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Denver is often considered to be a pretty safe city for solo female travelers. Street harassment is not frequently reported. However, it is advisable to stay vigilant, especially at night and while traveling solo in less busy areas. Usual safety rules followed in any big city apply here too.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Denver does have instances of petty crimes such as pickpocketing, purse snatching, and car break-ins, particularly in crowded areas or touristy spots. However, it is generally considered fairly safe, especially if you exercise usual precautions such as keeping your valuables secure and being aware of your surroundings.

Is Denver worth visiting?

Solo travel

I mainly went to Arapaho National Forest to summit my first 14er! It was definitely a risk so for anyone looking to summit a 14er, I highly recommend later in the summer as the weather won't be as volatile. Otherwise, Denver as a city was a blast if you love beer and nature! Fun breweries are all throughout the city, as well as since pretty neat coffee shops!

Is Denver safe for women?

Denver is relatively safe. I’d say if you drive in Denver you’ll be fine. Staying out too late could be a problem, but really only on public transportation. I’ve always felt safe going out with friends, though.

For a big city it is easy to get from place to place on my own almost always feeling safe. My recommendation would be to always research the part of Denver you are traveling to, some are safer than others.
