Do not let your guard down at night, especially in the downtown or college area. Every year there are a handful of stories of women being followed by men in cars. Drinks being spiked at bars has been a known problem here for decades.

Chico is a pretty safe town. We do have a lot of homeless folks and that can feel uneasy when walking at night but in reality it’s still pretty safe cuz they just keep to themselves. Been here 5 years with no issues from strangers.
