Boise is generally a very safe city and public transportation is no different. The city buses, managed by ValleyRide, are reliable, punctual, and well-maintained. It's a very safe city and the more progressive one in the whole state. Generally I feel safe roaming around town by myself as a queer Asian women and even doing the many outdoor activities available here! Of course like anywhere else, there's dangers and crimes that happen here but they don't happen as frequent or as big compared to bigger cities and honestly it would be nothing in comparison. Just like any other place, you'll encounter the few gross guys in the nightlife scene but there's plenty of girls girls out there who would step in for your safety if needed cause I know I would be one of them.

I have never had a problem walking alone or by myself at night in Boise, I walk home in the dark from work and I have never had an issue. There is some thefts on the college campus, but never violent.
