How safe is Augusta for women?

Augusta isn’t too bad, it’s a big city with different neighborhoods and majorities so it’s hard to say if it’s overall unsafe or just depends on the area. Personally I don’t mind the area and believe it is safe.

(Note: I am a white, straight woman. This may not be everyone's experience.) Downtown is fine if you don't go past Dr. Unks and the rest of Augusta is suburbia and shopping plazas along the main roads. Downtown can get pretty shady after dark though. Don't leave your car or house unlocked, keep your purse in hand, and don't make eye contact if you feel nervous.
