Overall it's a nice place, I just don't suggest you walk around at night by yourself. Sketchy stuff happens and there's lot of homeless around and there was some guys stealing a cop car near the Federal Way Highschool awhile back so just watch for weird people.

There is a lot of poverty here and I havent been here for long, but I have always felt safe. Just be aware of your surroundings and listen to your gut. Overall, you will see some homeless people but they are harmless- I would definitely walk around alone at night here.

Auburn is a very nice college city. There are some cafe opened until 1 in the morning on the weekend. You will be likely see a bunch of college students walking around at night downtown. It's safe and not crowded.
