If you're going to downtown Albany, I recommend walking around in the daytime. The nighttime is fine in crowds, like when there's a show going on for example. I wouldn't walk alone outside at night. I'd recommend taking the Concourse (underground, indoors, well-lit and open to the public) if you need to walk around downtown when it's dark out. The most prevalent matter is the unhoused. They are typically under the influence of drugs and walk around the Plaza. You can ignore them and their requests; it's better to not engage.

Central ave is not safe past 11. U need a car do anything so stick to carpool clubbing. Keep doors of cars locked when parked. Knife in pocket when it's dark. Ppl will piss on ur car past 12 if ur on washing Park or Central. It's ok to feed the homeless. Cdta isnt that bad at night. Not worst then the city. Overall better then nyc and Schenectady. That city is scary af past 8.
