Honestly super safe. Don't believe the BS you hear on Fox News about Portland. I mean, it's downtown in a pretty big city, so you do need to have some common sense and keep your wits about you. There are some unhoused folks around (though they mostly gather around old Chinatown), and some of them are mentally ill... but generally if you're reasonably careful you won't have a problem.
