It’s a bit boring compared to its neighbor Istanbul, but still really a good place to enjoy. Especially if you love nature, it has really great places. But for a night out, i don’t recommend being alone as a woman. Some people are tend to be “too friendly” or close minded around here.
Posted: February 12, 2026A pretty chill place, less busy or chaotic than its neighbor Istanbul. Plenty of attractions to see but they're not easy to find if you don't have a local to assist you. The city center has most things you need for a fun outing.
Posted: May 11, 2025I have been living in Kocaeli for 20 years and I have not experienced anything to the extent of trauma so far, but people are prejudiced and rude towards people they do not know and whose appearance they do not like, so I recommend you to travel with a local person.
