Bandırma is a small city but it is quite developed compared to other small cities in Turkey socially etc. It is a city where the student body increased thanks to its university which opened in 2015. It is very possible that you will see students from other 3rd world countries. I love night walks and I can do it without any discomfort, it may be because I am in the center but I was never bothered by the place we stayed in far from the center before. In general, I think it is a safe place, except for the gypsy neighborhoods, namely Çınarlı Neighborhood. If you see gypsy children smoking or approaching you to ask for money or something, do not be nervous, continue on your way and ignore them, if you are sitting outside, do not make eye contact and if you shake your head from side to side (meaning no) they will leave immediately, it is not a situation to worry about in general. After all this, if you are interested, it is a 2-2.5 hour sea journey from Istanbul with an İdo (İstanbul Deniz Otobüsleri - İstanbul sea bus). Our other big city, Bursa, which has a lot of Ottoman history (our city where Iskender kebab and various other flavors belong), is 1-1.5 hours away. Bandırma is a place where more than a day or two will be enough to visit. It has one small shopping mall (Liman AVM), it will not offer much variety for shopping, but it can accommodate a trip and a pleasant time where you can taste a few nice flavors because there are many cafes, a few very good restaurants and a few specific flavors that should be tasted.

It's not a tourist city. So I wouldn't recommend visiting it. It's a safe place to live. It's nice to be by the sea and have access to fresh fish. We can go to big cities in a few hours. Other than that, I can't make any other suggestions
