How safe is Kosice for solo female travelers?

I love Košice, but there are some dark places. If you are not local or with someone that knows the town very well, I would not recommend exploring side streets, because a lot of time u can meet there junkies or just some very weird people. The city is known for its beautiful square but also for that there are a lot of junkies. But otherwise it is safe to hang out on the main street and other popular places.

I will say this city is pretty safe if don't make trable at your own. Obviously it's more dangerous at night, but at my experience there are literally no one at night in this city. I don't had any serious and unsafe situations yet

pretty safe city never nothing personally happened to me. i live here since i was 14 years old. i used to go out at night alone and it was either luck or just sadety of the city but never nothing happened
Posted: January 25, 2026Overall, the city is very safe, mostly in city center where all the touristy things are. Everything is walkable distance, I often walk during night as solo female also to the areas that are more far from the city center or just going for walks and it's really safe!
