I found Cuba to be very safe. I didn't feel fear for my safety as I have in countries like Costa Rica or Panama. The situation is very complicated in terms of the lack of basic products so you should bring your own medications and be prepared to adapt to the local food. There's always someone willing to take you on private transportation. It's a wonderful country with wonderful people.

Group travel experience

I've been to Cuba twice. The second time, I spent two weeks in Varadero. I would go back. It's a wonderful country, and I felt very safe. I went out partying often, and we walked on the beach or the streets in the early hours of the morning. I never saw anything dangerous.

I went in May, and I felt very safe. It's one of those trips that, despite the challenges they face, I remember with a lot of joy. If you decide to visit Cuba, don't forget to bring your personal items and a little extra to share with them. Trust me, they will appreciate it. I brought sanitary towels, hand sanitizer, pencils, powdered milk, and other things. Just try not to give it out in public, because they will gather around you. Varadero is beautiful, and Havana has its own charm.

I traveled last February and felt safe at all times. It's important to take precautions as in any country. Bring everything you need for personal hygiene, including medications (if you can leave some there, they will appreciate it). Download a VPN to make reservations on Airbnb. Staying with Cubans is enriching, and they will offer you everything they have. My experience was very pleasant. Enjoyed Cuba and its people.

Family travel experience

I loved Cuba. I went with my cousin, and we had a fantastic time. It's very, very safe, and the people are very friendly. We stayed in Old Havana through Airbnb (very affordable) and in Varadero in a hotel. It was a wonderful trip that I would love to repeat.

I fell in love with the Cuban people. So friendly, helpful, and resourceful, no matter what you need they will help out. I stayed with a few families in Havana and Vinales (casa particular) which made the experience even better. It is one of the safest countries I have seen for a solo woman traveler.

I loved Cuba. I also stayed in an all-inclusive resort in Varadero and it was amazing. Havana was beautiful as well. I never felt unsafe while there, but obviously paid attention to my surroundings. I made friends easily with other travelers and the locals were friendly.

I went solo and did not do all-inclusive. Never felt unsafe but be aware of people trying to overcharge you/give the wrong change. I wandered a lot and found music often in unexpected places. It was my favorite trip ever.

Cuba is my fave trip, to date. It was cool to learn about the coffee & tobacco farming in Vinales. I had amazing air B and B hosts in Vedado, Havana. I loved a poetry reading and live band at the UNEAC & Fabrica De Arte. Just walking the streets was Havana is amazing.

I loved my trip to Cuba and it is top of my revisit list. Definitely, a country where I felt super safe in and the people were so lovely. The character and uniqueness are amazing and well worth a visit. Varadero is like paradise and so many great cities to visit.
