Hi from Puglia It is great region to discover if you want to see the place in Italy which have never heard about. Must do here: - Visit Polignano a Mare and to enjoy amazing colour of water from cliffs; - Visit places like Monopoli with sand beaches (I did not manage to, but heard a lot of recommendations); - Visit local farms and vineries, to stay there for a night. - Alberobello; - Take tours to see grots; - Visit Matera if you have a lot of time; To stay in Bari not the best option, maximum for 1-2 night if you have a week trip. Bari is quite dirty and there is not much to see, but to feel the vibe of evening city near the water, old city vibes, to visit St. Nicolas Church is good idea. In Bari big problems with taxi (from my experience) not sure if you will be able to take some even by call. In general I had no issues, but I was not feeling safe and free for all 100%.

Yes, the bigger towns are also growded in July and August but mainly with italians. You can go out for food cheaply and enjoy many beaches. I would def. recommend a car while traveling.
Posted: June 14, 2024Experienced: May, 2022I went on my first solo trip this year, I chose the Italian region of Apulia, and it was an excellent decision. Simple transport, lots to see, delicious food, friendly people, and throughout the entire trip, I didn't have a single situation where I felt uncomfortable or unsafe.
