Is Pescara safe for solo female travelers?

Pescara, known for its beautiful beaches and lively nightlife, is generally quite safe for solo female travelers. The general atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The city has standard, precautionary petty crimes, such as pickpocketing, especially in crowded areas. So it's always essential to stay aware of your belongings. But, violent crime is quite rare. The community of locals is supportive and helpful in case you face any trouble. Public transport is reliable and usually safe. However, be attentive when traveling at night. Regardless of this, it is always advised for solo travelers to keep their family or friends updated about their whereabouts for extra safety.

Pescara is generally safe, but areas near the train station and central bus terminal may have higher rates of petty crimes like pickpocketing. Some southern coastal areas could see more drug-related issues (the area that we call “ferro di cavallo” (=horseshoe), called like this from the horseshoe-shaped layout of the streets or buildings in that area, and “Rancitelli”) It’s best to stay aware of your surroundings and avoid poorly lit areas at night.

People may stare if you look different (blonde, pale, etc) but they are just curious and very friendly. The area around the station may seem a bit dodgy and probably best to avoid late at night but otherwise very safe here.

About me

I'm a creative soul who lives between London UK and Pescara in Italy. I find joy in drawing, painting, and photography, especially when it comes to all things vintage from the 1920s and 1940s. Years ago, I stumbled upon swing jazz dancing, and it quickly became a passion of mine. I love exploring new places and cultures, drawing endless inspiration from my adventures. One of my greatest joys is listening to people's stories. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunities my work has given me to meet so many wonderful people from different countries and walks of life. I’m excited to keep connecting with even more incredible people in the future :)
