It’s generally a safe city during the day. The crime rate is very low compared to bigger cities. I’d avoid parks and the train station, as well as the surrounding areas, after dark. You’ll feel even safer if you’re out with other people at night.
Posted: February 19, 2026Perugia is the city I've lived in for most of my life: we call it "perugia favelas" because expecially in some zones (fontivegge, ponte San Giovanni, prepo) there are big issues with drugs and criminality. Italy in general has a huge problem regarding women's safety, the patriarchal mentality is a shame in our culture. Personally I've experience bad sexual molestation in prepo's zone but the train station's area is even worse
Posted: October 4, 2025Perugia is a safe city also during night, but to prevent bad or uncomfortable situations I do not recommend walking alone at night. However it’s a vibrant city during the weekend due to the multiple students that are living in it.

I’m beatrice, I’m studying motor science at the university of Perugia, where I’m living as an offside student. After height school I took a gap year in witch I did a course as a bartender, and a photographer; I did babysitting and I helped a skipper for a trip to the Eolie island for a month. I like singing, indeed I’m in the choir of Perugia university; I like sailing, writing and reading.
