Is Padua safe for women?
It is safe during the day overall in the centre and in residential areas. The only things to keep in mind: be careful on buses/tram who sits beside you (mostly chill people, every now and then some weirdos) and in the area of the train station and borgomagno area if some weirdo approaches you out of nowhere keep walking/riding your bike. At night if you are alone and have to walk home it’s better to go by bike than walking or book a bus on the Quibus app in advance.
Posted: August 10, 2026Padova is generally safe. There are guys that will cat-call you but they are mostly harmless. Usually they concentrate around the train station. So I would say to avoid it if possible during the night. But even then, it just seems a bit scary from time to time to walk alone at night. They steal bikes a lot, so I recommend having a good lock for both tires lol

During the night, be careful in the surrounding of the train station, and please note that you may need to cross the underpass to go from the center to the "Arcella" neighborhood. The other way is the railway bridge but still - not very nice to cross especially if alone and on walk. The center and other nightlife streets are quite ok.
Posted: April 28, 2026Usually it’s always safe but need to be careful with bicycles, sometimes bad people steal tires rings or the ram. It’s very light at night and recommended not to stay for a while in station area. Very lovely

Padua is a very peaceful city, full of young university students who congregate in the busiest social area around the Porta Nuova. The only areas to avoid are those near the station. Otherwise, I've never felt unsafe anywhere in the city.
Posted: March 24, 2026The city is generally safe, the worse part is generally close to the station, both front of it and behind it, but in those areas theres usually police or military to make sure everything is ok. When walking around the station, going over the bridge is better than below
