Modena is really safe, north Italy is pretty safe. You can walk alone and 90% of the time you are safe. Is not a dark city or really dangerous. Obviously there are places there are a bit dangerous but if you’re in 2/3 people you can stay safe even in that places. There’s no serial killer or something similar here. It is really rare listen that someone is being murder here. But you have to stay prepared for the rubbed. They rubbed my house almost 3/4 times in 15 years.

It’s pretty safe as long as, like in every other city, you avoid certain places. for example i wouldn’t advise going to Viale Gramsci alone and honestly that whole part of modena isn’t pretty. The part “Sacca” is getting bad as well. and also the Novi Park isn’t very nice alone at night!
