Despite the nearby Venice being fairly safe and touristic, Mestre is not at all safe. I’ve lived here for more than half a year with students, but I would not walk alone after it’s dark. Especially there are many places you should avoid, such as the station, Via Piave, and underground passages. Not only should you be worried about theft during the day, but there are a lot of drug addicts everywhere, and i would doubt it’s safe for men as well walking here alone at night. Certain managed places like right in front of a hotel might be a bit more safe, but if you’re new around here and your looking for accommodation, I would really advise you to be careful and ALWAYS ask locals where to avoid and when. Be safe ladiesss Oh I’ve been verbally harassed multiple times while my stay here, considering my race stereotype but I guess if you’re an asian in Europe you gotta bare with it haha
