For a female traveller It is incredibly safe, however... Freezingggggggg. If you're going in autumn/winter, I highly recommend decking out in all your snow gearm I'd also be cautious that you have cash with you, some restaurants prefer cash. Also note that buses connecting you from Assisi - train station (and vice versa) only come every 30 mins, so plan accordingly
