Generally safe during day because there are lots of public spaces well lit and open with people around. Police is also responsive. But men staring, catcalling, touching etc are more frequent at nights even in beaches and public garden areas.
Posted: June 16, 2026safe in the city at night. but it becomes moderate in rural areas. its kinda unsafe in rural areas because of peoples mindset. even from women. the women are the one to judge first in rural areas. otherwise cool place.
Posted: July 7, 2025I feel cities tend to be more safe as they are more developed and have streetlights and visibility at night. In the morning I feel this is a really safe place for everyone.I feel travelling at night is the time to be cautious.

Thiruvananthapuram has been a clean and safe city for me all these years. Haven't experienced any threats so far, and i usually go out alone at dark. People are helpful in most situations. One of the safest places in India.

I am doing a PhD in English language education now. Basically a travelling soul, most preferably solo, in a slow pace and not-so-touristy mood. Interested in all things related education and language and culture and human lives. Good with intimate conversations but bad in groups.

A yogi, meditator, spiritual seeker, new in town. Looking to make friends while I'm here, I am fun, funny and have lots of insights on how to life it. Was in Australia until last year, Followed by some yoga gigs in Goa. Currently in Trivandrum and figuring out how to make friends here. P.S. still have heaps of Aussie in me.
