I often have to go back home late night and it seems safe, people often rome around till 12 and also polish keep petroling around the city even after midnight. They often check on suspicious activity.

Surat, being a city in a dry state, is the safest place I have ever been in India. The people are nice and helpful. You can use Uber anywhere or take an auto. It’s also the second cleanest city and very easy to maneuver.
